I don't know of any possible connection between the throttle body and the 4WD system.

Yes- Bad throttle body is common on Jeep patriot - should have been a recall, but wasn't. Bad Throttle Body ( incidentally throttle position sensor is enclosed in throttle body ) will show dash warnings check engine, yellow traction control warning light, and the red lighting bolt electronic throttle control red lightning bolt inside the concave brackets. Scans code p2118 and p2110. Limp mode, runs rough. I ordered ( Rock Auto) and installed Hitachi ETBoo40 throttle body ( supposed to come with gasket and didn't ) $180 and just in case needed ( I did) Mahle gasket $1.72 , installed, test drive all good. 2010 Jeep Patriot, 2.4. Need 10mm , 13mm socket, nice to have 4" and 10 ratchet extensions, and ujoint for same. 8mm or yellow nut driver for hose clamps. Careful removing bottom elec. Connector to t. Body, breaks easy. Sprayed it with AC F 50 let soak to ease removal. Still broke, taped it back on new TBody after inserting. Runs fine now, no lights. Relearn procedure un-needed. Two hour job ( if it goes good) , back yard.
