Can I swap my 225/60 R17 tires to 225/55 R17 on my 2012 Subaru Outback?

I need 4 all season tires.  A friend has 4 slightly used 225/55 R17 tires she'll give me.  Will they work on my 2012? If so, what are the pros and cons of using them? Thanks.
