Winter tires. From 225/60/R17 to 215/65/R17?

Question type: General
I'm buying Nokian Hakkapellita 9 tires for a 2019 Crosstrek.
The Subaru dealer tells me to buy 225/60/R17, but these are not available
around me. The tire store clerk wants to sell me 215/65/R17 instead. Would
that fit? I understand the diameter would be greater, is there any consequences
to that besides small difference on the speedometer?

Those tires will fit. The diameter difference is very small. All you have to do is roll one over to your car and compare!
Wider tires could be a problem if you try to use tire cables as wheel well clearance in Subaru's is minimal.
Ed92626, thanks for the details. I'm looking for winter tires. I live on a dirt road that's not plowed regularly enough during winter. Lots of snow and ice on the road. I was afraid that choosing a size that differ from the manufacturer's recommandations would be a problem.

I'd like to put 225 65 R17 KO2's on my 2019 Crosstrek stock rims. Will they fit even though they are 28.5" in diameter instead of the 27.6" stock tires (225 60 R17)
Regarding the above question. You could try them out to see how much clearance you would have. Why do you want KO2's? This is not a rock crawler. If you want snow traction a winter only snow tire with the mountain/snowflake symbol is the thing to have.
