We have a 2012 Forester X luxury. I turned the cruise control on whilst on the highway and was travelling at about 60mph when the car developed a vibration. Initially I thought it was a rough surface road so I stopped, turned the engine of and then restarted it. When I drove off without cruise control, the vibration did not re-occur.
I have not experienced this particular problem. Have you drove it since using cruise control and had no vibration?

silly as this sounds, check for a dirty oil filter that could cause low oil pressure. Subaru's go nuts when they sense low oil pressure. Crazy, but if you read all posts about this and consider WHEN it seems to happen, its usually on a highway, making a turn, accelerating, or some other time when the car thinks it should be getting a higher oil pressure reading. The computer takes over and starts shutting stuff down. When you turned the car off, the system reset. But it will happen again.
