How can I shut off the rear interior lights in a 2013 escape with the hatch open & radio on at the drive in?
I saw this same question for another
model but we use to go to the drive
Inn with my envoy, lay the seats
down, and lay in the back with a
blanket. With the 2013 escape - not
only is it not possible to lay flat
(there's a 2-3 inch lift where the seats
lay down!) but with the hatch open &
the radio on... There doesn't seem to
be a way to have the rear interior
lights shut off. Other movie goers
aren't thrilled with this plus it's rather
annoying. Any suggestions? Besides
pulling a fuse! Haha. Thanks.

that's about all you can do other than remove the globe on movie night,

there isn't a slidey switch ON the lamp itself? check for this please~
I just checked and there's no kind of switch on the lamp. I was hoping there was a way to do it with some sort of switch rather than having to disconnect it completely because times when were not at the movies it's very useful. The lamp is only on the passenger side but it comes out of the bottom as well through a good foot worth of slits - not just from the lamp so it's rather bright. Thanks for the tips - much appreciated. I figured it would shut off with the battery saving mode but doesn't with the key on.

the menu should have a "command center" which gives you the options of selecting which devices that the BCM is in charge of...for example fade-to- black...we don't need that...what are they trying to prove? we never needed that...should be an option in your command center menu, select on the right menu...select~
That is true Judge, what you said. The problem is that it only works like that with ignition key 'off' and today's drive~in movies you use the radio for sound and the key must be on or 'acc' for the radio to work. Which renders the 'select' moot, the battery saver feature is for when the car is parked and locked, no key in.
So there's really no option then besides unplugging it huh?

if you can get the bezel off, simply pluck the bulb and put it in your pocket...there are still drive-ins?...wow---thought it was just a memory~....the Snack Bar, sneakin' extra people in through the trunk...stolen kisses...good times~

the MINI cooper radio comes on with no key in the ignition...press it twice...yours may have a similar "wifey cannot live without here informative news" option~ British/German engineering has carried over to Ford? not bloody likely~...but you could TRY pressing the on button slowly twice to see if it comes on with NO key~no harm in tryin'~

Well, I don't know to fix your problem other than removing the bulb but I haven't seen a Drive-In theater around these parts for atleast 30 years. Must be nice to still have one. Nothing here in the Chicago area. Wish there was. The last movie I saw at a drive-in theater was American Grafitti when it was a new movie back in 1973. I think that theater closed that same year and they built a big shopping mall where the theater parking used to be.. I really miss those days, Unfortunately the mall is still there. Good luck to you and see a movie for me. Your drive-in could be gone in a blink of an eye. Where were you in '62? Kenny/MrBlueOval.

minus three years old...they still had them in '74 think KING KONG with Jeff Bridges while it rained~ in Waukesha~
you may want to just try to make something to cover the light, It doesnt draw a lot of juice so youll be ok there. hope this helps!
Go to the tailgate and push the metal piece that hooks onto the bumper. This tricks the car into thinking the trunk is closed and it will turn off all the lights with the key still in! Piece of cake. *remember when closing the tailgate door at the end to hit the unlock button on the tailgate...if not, it won’t latch closed
