Why does my car start to stall and die?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2013 Ford Edge. The check engine light will
randomly come on. Car starts to putt, shuts off and
steering wheel locks when I’m slowly driving.
Sometimes while the car is in park the engine will
accelerate on it’s own as if I have my foot on the
gas petal.. Just a bit of history— The fuel filter has
been replaced 2 years ago because the car would
have problems starting after filling it up with gas.
Appreciate advice on this! Could it be the fuel pump
or filter again? Or something more?

I know what I could do. The reasoning for my post was to get suggestions and hear from others that maybe have had the same issue BEFORE going to spending money. If you’re going to comment back to people, comment back with a kind and helpful heart. Have a blessed day.
