check engine light on wont pass inspection pad lock symbol

my 2013 Malibu wont pass inspection because check engine light came on with a pad lock symbol. did not have this problem when I brought it in for the inspection

This is the anti theft system emblem,it is your fob that is the problem,your car does not reconize it,try this lock your car door with key,then unlock it,may need to do this a few times,should reset antitheft,don,t use your fob only key.

The padlock is your theft deterrent system becoming active, if I recall it's been an issue with the passlock sensor in the ignition lock since the 2000's. For the CEL, you need to have it scanned to learn what the actual trouble code is. For such a new car, it is likely something covered under warranty.
