Hyundai Elantra GT 2013 - Driver's Side Blowing Warm Air While Passenger Side Is Blowing Ice Cold with A/C on.
The driver's side of my car has been blowing warm air while the passenger's
side blows ice cold. This is with Max A/C and circulation. If I turn those off, it is
still the same.. seems to get slightly cooler but not much.
Anyway, I was driving it today to try to get more information to post here.
Obviously, I don't expect my air to be ice cold when I first turn my car on, but
you can notice the difference more when you first turn it on. It is almost hot air
while the passenger side is cool. It doesn't take too long for the passenger
side to get ice cold, but the driver's side barely cools down.
I also noticed the longer I drove (and maybe the faster I drove?) the air on the
driver's side seemed to get a bit colder. Definitely not ice cold like it should be,
but just cool enough that I wasn't bothered by it anymore, but would still prefer
my ice cold air back. It was about 80 degrees today, going to dread this when
it hits the 90s+.
Back in the winter, I thought I heard a clicking or some strange noise come
from my dash for only a few minutes when I first started it. Someone told me
this could be the "blend door actuator" on the driver's side going bad, but they
said that I should still be hearing the clicking if it's broke and I don't recall
hearing any clicking today, or since that one time.
The heat works great. It was cold a few nights ago so I tried it out. I have not
tried different vents for the A/C to see how they work. The only other vents I
have are the dash/rear ones so I'm not sure how I could tell if it's "super cold"
anyway.
This car is also NOT dual climate, so it isn't that either.
I'm wondering if this could also be a freon issue? I had my father pop the hood
and take a peak and he said the hoses seem fine from what he could tell, but
he's not a car expert, but he knows a little about cars. Could it still need freon
anyway? Or would putting freon in it to see if it fixes my issue damage the car?
