2013 Sonic chimes even though the key isn't in the ignition

Asked by Darmae Aug 26, 2015 at 05:43 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car chimes when I open the driver's door after putting it in park and taking the key out of the ignition.  I cannot lock the driver's door.  It looks, then immediately unlocks.  The only when to lock it is when the passenger door is open.  The only way to unlock it is putting the key in the lock on the driver's door because the key fob doesn't work.  The 1st time I took it to the dealer they had no clue and weren't very nice.  The service manager put graphite in the ignition the 2nd time.  That worked for almost a month.  I called him today but haven't heard back.  This is an intermittent problem.  How do I get it to go away?

Please and thank you!

sounds like u need to program the car.. find configuration and change the key sensing to off. it will not lock; key is within 14 ft of car.
