can a kia optima hybrid battery be replaced and the car still ru on its gas engine. say after the battery dies

Its warranted for 100,000 miles Its part of the EPA FEDERAL EMISSIONS system and must be retained NOT possible to eliminate or it will not be allowed on the road! Only around $2,500 plus labor and taxes, though it's more expensive in some models. VERY LOW COST compared to most Hybrids check out the Chevy Volt $30,000 battery, of course no longer made(Volt)..and others...people that bought these had not a clue!
Thank you I believe the battery is warranted to the original owner only which i am not. I've been told by the dealer that the battery cost about $5000.00 to replace. probable not correct if you see my second question do you have an answer for that ? Thank You
