It depends alot on where you live and what kind of coverage you want or need. If you finance it the bank is going to want full coverage with a low deductible. And should you ever get into a accident, you'll want to have good medical coverage. Any way you look at it, its going to be high. $3500.00 isn't unheard of for young drivers in a sports car.
OK- you are 17 and still learning about this great American dream called "owning a car"- first understand that the insurance companies, like the banks, are going to cover their bottom line so they will never LOSE money- they are basically rip off artists who have got you where they want you- and you WILL play by their rules- in other words, it is gonna cost you a LOT of money- up front, down the line, and if you get a ticket, (as you will) they will jack up your premium faster than you can say "427 Corvette"- sorry, this is the world you live in- driving is a privilege, not a basic human right- that's why you have to go to college to maximize your lifetime income- things are expensive now and they will just get more expensive- and this is the advice from the old man who remembers going to college in my $800 Austin Healey 3000 when gas was 19 cents a gallon and I didn't have to have my car insured: buy a used, inexpensive, more mundane ride to start out- it will be cheaper, up front, repairs, gas, and especially insurance- delay the gratification for a few years until you have finished college, have a good job, and can afford what you desire- you will be an adult, smarter, stronger, and more sure of what you want-
