Asked by silmcdz Sep 29, 2015 at 07:31 PM about the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Question type: General

I'm having trouble with gassing up my Mercedes Benz.  I insert the nozzle and
press the trigger on the Gas pump, it stops as if the tank was full.  Only it isn't.

There is a vapor recovery system on all cars that involves a recovery canister, vent lines that run from the gas tank to the canister, and a purge valve, this system my be plugged. This collects the fumes from the gas, and allows the pressure to be relieved while filling the tank. They have this system so the fumes do not disperse into the atmosphere.

How do you know it's not full? By the gas gauge? What if the gauge is faulty and it IS full? Just guessin'- it's what we do here-
