I know maybe a silly question, but I'm thinking about a 2013 535i AWD, have always drove an SUV and am a little nervous about the switch to a sedan. OK for getting around in the snow?

Not as good as an AWD SUV but front wheel drive is better in snow in a sedan or coupe. I live where there is plenty of snow and have no trouble with my Corolla, which is like comparing a bicycle to a Harley when you talk about 535's and Corollas.

And there are no silly questions. There are frustrating ones, like when somebody posts "my car wont start" ...and that's all.

You will have no problem in the snow so long as you have the right tires for it. If you put blizzaks studless snow tires on that car and let the computer do the work, you will out gun all but the best SUV's in any snow that's under 10" deep. You may actualy find the car more nimble, precise, and aggressive in drivable snow then an SUV. If your driving off road, well all bets are off, but on the road you will have no problems with that car, unless you have summer tires on it, then your screwed :)

zsevern is totally right. As one who has lived in the Tundra of Minnesota, and both an SUV and multiple BMW owner, the only concern here is ground clearance. All season tires work fine, but winter specific tread will allow for more spirited driving in the sedan. Weight is to your benefit here. As anyone with half a brain knows, BMW's are built primarily in Germany with winter driving a priority. The X drive is a superior AWD system compared to all others save Land Rover, so rest easy and enjoy driving the best Bavaria has to offer.
