How to install 2013 Mazda Cx-9 part 62-873 ( tinside tailgate rubber stop

I lost one of the two tailgate stops after bumping my head on it, The part is
identified as  62-873. For the life in me I cannot get the replacemnt stop
installed. I pushed as hard as I could but it just does not get seated in place.
There is no obstruction in the hole where it is to be installed. Please help.

put a lil dish soap on the tip then insert and use a #3 phillips tips screw driver to push into place
