difference between 4x4 & 2x4

how can i tell whether a 2005 laredo is all time 4x4 or 2x4 or if it Rocky mountain or not, from the inside ir outside ?

On the liftgate, it'll say 4x4 if it is. If it says nothing, then most likely it's 2WD. Another thing to remember is the base Laredo came with All Wheel Drive, but still had the "4x4" badge on the rear liftgate. The way to tell then is to look for the "Trail Rated" badge on the left fender. If it has one, then it's a real 4WD, not just AWD. The difference being AWD has no user controls, and no low range...It's just a simple "idiot-proof" system that's sort of like the Quadra-Trac system, but minus the low range mode.
