will a bad btsi solenoid cause the transmission to slip out of drive

occasionally, when cold,the transmission remains in neutral when shifted into drive. Will a faulty btsi solenoid cause this?

if i knew more that would help.. Brake Transmission Interlock Solenoid... could be anything...service it.....if not the shifter/button...sounds like a pressure problemmmm...herr again , more info would be nice
