Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Look to buy 2003 Grand
Cherokee 4.0L. Looks great but
have not heard run yet. Asking
900.00 and says tranny is bad.
Goes but not at higher speed.
Anyone know about how much
to have tranny replaced and if
think worth it for 900.00 plus
tranny replacement. Pics look
sharp and looks very clean. Has
163k

Call up a transmission shop. Don't count on this being the only thing wrong with the Jeep!

Well it is the in line 6 and I have known several that have had those motors and none had any real issues. I myself had an 81 and am 83MC wagon with that same 258. Both got over 300K. More recently my wife's friend jeep recently went tits up with 427k on it. Haven't owned one myself since Chrysler bought AMC so outside of the couple others I know who had them haven't really discussed them much. But we did buy a vehicle--- 2008 Cadillac SRX. Hopefully it will be a good one!!
