2000 xj police package steering swap

Out of curiosity, whats wrong with the OE steering equipment in your truck.

The stock steering is made of steel tubes and the cross bar ( the bar running from tire to tire.) is bent from a Michigan pothole. The Grand Cherokee from 93-95 is a direct bolt on with steel rods in place of hollow steel tubes. This is a cheap and easy way to upgrade to much stronger steering parts. The only problem that I have run into is that no one has been able to tell me if I can use the stock xj pitman arm or if I need to use the Grand's pitman arm. Setting them next to each other they are nearly identical other then serial numbers. I have not been able to remove my stock pitman arm as i need it to drive so I can check if the tie rod opening is the same.

This was a topic that came up a couple times on the XJ forums I was on, the conesensus was... You can in fact use the stock pitman arm!

Thanks...finally someone gives me a straight answer. Everyone else told me that I should do as I feel...what bull this is my driver and wheeler we are dealing with here and I want things right. Thank you again.
