Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When replacing the battery on 2014/5 gmc terrain,
does the car have to be running during the
replacement. Also I know that the positive lead
should not touch ground/-

No! Use an OBD2 port connected code saver. I use one with a long cord that connects to another cars cigarette lighter. You can get them on Amazon for around $20. Well worth it!

I only have OBD2 Bluetooth connector. What can happen if I change the battery when while off? Any issues with computer box, settings or maps?

Just change the battery with the engine OFF. If you still have concerns call your local GMC service department and ask them for instructions for changing the battery.

If you leave your car running, you take a chance of shorting out many items, like the alternator, computer etc. Just like replacing a switch in your house. Turn off the electricity at the circuit breaker first. You may have to sync the new battery to the computer. If it is not in you manual, check with your service written at the GMC dealership.
