My 2012 gmc terrain will start but l cant get it to go into gear. Any thoughts?

If the shifter is on the floor I would guess one of the wires in the harness broke. Easy fix, if you can take off the cover. Should also be a quick release button under there so you can shift it out of park manually. (This is what happened to my car and I fixed it myself) yeah I googled it.
