okay, what did you work?...don't answer...let's diagnose: air=yes we have air; fuel=check please; spark=check please; timing=a real pisser, if you get that one wrong...are you the DOHC with two chains? they do stretch and the tension shoe runs out of space because the chain gets stretched~ not a big whoop, just a lot of putzy more than a weekend type affair~
Im not sure what you mean i barely know anything about cars

that's like one liter per cylinder....that's a mighty big displacement...'bout three times the size of my little toyota motor~ personally worked on one in my mechanic experience...it was whistling...cause intake gasket...only took a moment of inspection with a cardboard tube to find it.~

judge_roy, what are you talking about? DOHC '96 Jeep? One liter per cylinder? Only 2 engines available in '96 Grand Cherokee: 4.0L I6, 5.2L V8. I agree with tennisshoes, could be crank sensor, very common for 4.0L. Also very common for all ZJ body ('93-'98) Grand Cherokees is the fuel pump.
