Noises under my clutch pedal

Asked by Tony Mar 11, 2020 at 10:19 AM about the 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every time I down shift (primarily from 3rd to 2nd), I'm
hearing this almost rattling and clanking noise when im
depressing the pedal. Most of the time it won't do it if I rev
match perfectly. It's mostly if I have my revs slightly higher.
I'm still learning as I go but would like to see if I could get
help figuring out exactly what the noise is coming from?

Older systems used an external spring on the actuator fork to keep it from shaking and rattling. See if it's unclipped. That would be the good news. Otherwise I fear you've a bad throw-out bearing or worn fork somehow.
