Question type: Maintenance & Repair
What kind of oil should be used when changing the oil on a 2014 Nissan Altima. I was charged $80.00 today and told that it was because the oil must be 0W20. Is this true or did I get ripped off? I went in for the $19.99 ladies day speical.

You need synthetic oil in your car. 5W20 should also work but I doubt it is any cheaper. Shop around for a better price.
Basically they up charged you and got you to come in on the special deal. Get the price in writing before you commit them removing the oil.
Yes mam, that is very true for a 2014 Nissan Altima 2.5. It's very expensive going to have the oil changed if you dont have someone you know to change it for you. I have the same car.

If $80 includes the oil change, tire rotation and inspection. Then it's an ok price. Not on the cheap side, but it about average for a dealer's workshop. For Nissan Altima it takes 4.6 quarts of 0w20. A 5qt bottle of 0w20 will cost you from $22 to $32. That's just for the oil. Of course, the shop will buy their oil in bulk, so it's way cheaper.
