2014 F150 radio is overheating. Speakers sound like Jack in the Box drive through, is this a common problem?.

If you radio is a factory installed system then Ford has to figure it out. If you had an aftermarket one installed then that shop is responsible to repair it. Check for recalls on your model for that issue. Ford only has to let you know about life threatening recalls. While you are on Fords website e-mail them about your issue and that you took it there twice with no positive outcome from both. I've worked for lots of different brands of dealerships. What I've seen over the years is the mechanic that looked at your vehicle might not have had enough experience to figure out the problem. If that is what happened in your case the most used response would be that he couldn't duplicate the complaint. If that's the run around the service department is doing.Try talking or emailing the General manager. No mechanic that I have worked with over the wants an electrical problem that's under warantee. You'll almost loose money because warrantee repairs only pay a certain amount of time. Hopefully it doesn't get hot enough to catch something on fire inside the dash. Try another dealership. If you make enough of a stink about it they'll put you ina rental intil the problem is resolved.

I'm curious about what transmission you have? Ford tried to keep it quiet but that's hard to do these days. Ford was working a deal with Chevrolet to use the Allison transmissions. Ford has yet to design a tranny that can handle towing a lot of weight. So once again ford needs chevy parts to do the heavy towing...lol

The reason ford has the best selleng truck for 32 yrs. is that there f150 is the cheapest truck buy. Ford did try to keep tranny deal secret because they were worried there customer's would loose confidence in there product quality. The internet sees all and knows all. Btw I seen a ford truck ad the other day and ford 40yrs not 32 so which is it?

I never said chevy owned allison but they were smart enough to know what's better to do.

If Chevy (AKA Government Motors) is so " Smart " and had a product that was in such high demand why did they have to go to Washington with there hat in there hand and beg for money, build and then the Chevy Volt, try to sell it at 50% less than it cost to manufacture And Still couldn't get rid of the POS's. The easiest way to answer that one is Ford had their hands out. Dodge has been bailed out twice. The 1st mistake that started this bail out of the big 3 happened long time ago. They were warned that this could be the begining of the end. Our government should never let the import companies to build their cars here. The big 3 didn't think Americans would buy those cheap,slow an ugly imports. Then the fuel crisis hit in the 70's and off they went. American cars couldn't compete with the imports once they were building the cars here. Lower prices and great mileage was something the big 3 thought would never hurt their bottom lines. When it did Chevrolet and Ford made an effort an that's how vehicles like the Vega's and Pinto's were born. Dodge was slower in that race. That's why Dodge needed to their 1st loan. That's how the K car was born. The main buyer of the K car/Reliant was our Governmet. So it was a great deal for them because the government helped pay off the loan. So now all these years later and I believe the experts way back when were right. Last thing I have to say is GM shut down the lines that were bleeding to death.They did try to get through this recession without help.The big 3 would be fine right now without bailouts,loans or divisions closeing. I've owned 41vehicles since I was 18 an owned almost every brand worth owning(ford even). Price of things now sometimes forces me to search u-pull it junkyards. I have a question for boho and fordnot. Since GM closed some of their brands mentioned above. If ford is so great why does the junkyard have double the amount fords than GM products combined? I think GM still has more divisions than ford and dodge.

BTW I'm just messing with you. I would like to thank cargurus and eveyone I've chatted with(even u ford guys) since I joined a few days ago. I've been disabled for about 10yrs an I miss turning a wrench like I used too. The last few days have made my depression mellow out. It's nice to feel useful again and messing with you ford guys made my day.

Ford had the good sense to see the hand writing on the wall, down sized, SOLD Jaguar and Volvo. Watch TV reality shows. They all drive there own trucks and 90% are FORD's. Did you know that The Chevy Chevette offered a diesel? Good Lord!

You make some valid points, albeit some in disagrement with me and B-Mark, and it is cool to have a debate without anybody getting angry and start name-calling, a juvenile response that happens all to often during a gentleman's disagreement. But you will never change my attitude about Fords. My 39 year old F-250 is still going strong to this day. I do something unusual---use 50W Motor oil in my transmission and transfer case, have for 30 years and no leaks and no problems. I also live where it gets VERY cold.

Oh yeah.......... Whoops. But I just have to put in my last 2 cents in. Just a little less than a year ago I sold my 1999 F350 7.3 diesel dully with around 400000 miles on it and my 1998 Expedition with 250000 miles on it. I miss them more than some of my relatives. But to be fair. Just before I moved over seas, we took the Chevy 3/ 4 ton demo truck off the road. Just 200000 miles on it. The shop foreman bought it, put a plow on her and as far as I know its plowing in the winter and transporting his family to the camp he has in the White Mountains.

The proof is in the proverbial pudding...right there. What more can a guy ask from a truck? B-Mark's experience is not vastly different from my own, I have owned no truck other than a Ford (3), in my 'second' career I worked for a company that had a fleet of Ford Pick-ups that we used to tow very heavy loads with automatics and I did burn one up going up the Grapevine, I5 in Calif. @6% grade. My fault. I forgot to drop a gear, otherwise it would have been fine had I allowed it to tach at 3800 rpm at 55. It kept gear hunting and I know better, had my head up my ass. But, the company kept them until the wheels fell off, usually 250,000+ miles,-- with dozens of drivers--and you know that causes problems right there. F-250's mostly,7750 lb gross rating that we exceeded everyday with an extra leaf spring. and F-350's they used 4-speed manuals on the 10-lug dually flatbeds. Yep, B-Mark, take my wife but leave my truck. Please.

Your story sounds sorta like mine. I started messing with cars when I was 13. My Dad had me take apart sb chevy and he supervised when I started rebuilding it. When we put the motor back in his gmc sprint and it started on the 1st try. I was hooked after that.I started in an oil change place. That was not challenging enough but I couldn't a real job in a shop because I wasn't certified. I started getting my my ase certs. I passed 5 of them in the time allowed on the 2 evenings we were tested. 6 months later I passed the other 3. I have no complaints about the old ford f series. I was hired by a huge consrtuction company and the fleet was 6 gmc. The other 93 ford trucks and vans. In 1988 they must had a great year. They bought 35 e350 w/4.9L. I was hired in 1989 and that's how my ford education started. Used to hate the motorcraft holley carbs they used on the f350 crew cabs with bb 460's. If u ask me the 4.9 & 7.5 was fords best 2 work horse motors. I worked there for 9 yrs. Then ford finally offered me so much money I had to say yes. Hell I even owned a 86 bronco. The 351winsor just couldn't handle 34's. So I did some measuring and found thata 460 might just fit. I bought some f350 mm brackers for the 460. Motor fit real good but I had to customize a set of headers. Once it was done that monster would would roast those 34 mud tires. The 2 owners of the company had bronco's and they both bet 500 that I couldn't make it work. I ended up doing the same thing 2 theirs. Damn I just noticed this is a ramble on to long post. It's been so long since I could talk shop with others who love it as much as I do.

When u said plow I had a flashback of when I was in pittsburgh visiting family at christmas. My gift that morning was hearing a huge plow/salt truck slam into my 1st car I ever owned. It sucked that the car was a 70 SS Chevelle LS6 454/460hp model. My1st Love was destroyed that day. Yes I cried like a baby on that morning and that snow plow drivers was lucky my pistol was1200 miles away.

I should have driven my orange crunch pinto, but I didn't think she or I would make it there. I would have froze to death because the driverside had been t-boned right where the door met the A pillar. I used a.porta power to push it back out. After somemore gentle love taps with my heaviest hammer I got the door to open and close but door was still 2 wasted for a window. Talk to you all later time to cook some food for my pitbulls an I.

Gentleman Jack and I parted company many years ago, I was enjoying a bit to much of his company. I bet you knew that darts were a very serious spot.
