94 JEEP CHEROKEE 2.5 MANUAL NO START, COMPRESSION ALL OVER THE PLACE.
I just bought a Jeep off craigslist. Guy told me it had been sitting since their
camping trip in October 2014. Said they were smelling gas and then it just
shut down while driving. So almost a year of just sitting in their parking lot.
Cob webs under the hood and all. Guy said he just replaced the fuel pump
and filter. But when looking at the filter I don't think he did much of anything.
Air filter is black, oil is really watery and I'm hoping there's not coolant
getting in there. Battery is fine. I changed the crankshaft position sensor;
(which is what the guy said it needed,) the fuel pump relay, plugs and wires.
Distributor cap and rotor look fine but I could be wrong. Did a compression
test. First one was reading about 46, second was in the 60's I believe, 3rd
was around 80 and the last one read 120. We went from the last cylinder
working toward the inside of the car. My battery was dying so we hooked up
jumpers about halfway through and it was cranking faster. Not sure if that
could have possibly made the reading go up? Was advised to check my
timing chain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Poked at my fuel
pressure test port and it seems to be getting fuel. Cant be too sure it's
getting spark but will test that. PLEASE HELP! Dont want to buy a new
engine. But if I do end up having to engine swap, is it possible to put the 4.0
straight 6 in her?
