unhook the neg side of battery for about 5 minutes so the computer can reset itself,if this dont do it ,look in fusebox and pull the ECM fuse for same amount of time, replace.this should fix your problem.
Computer must relearn. Have you scanned the computer for trouble codes?
I know on some Chryslers you just had to lock and unlock the door with the key to disable the security system. You should give that a try.
take ur ignition key to the passenger door turn to lock then unlock and that will reset ur computer
take your key and turn the drivers side door lock to the right , then left and then right again ...this will reset the security system.

2002 Grand Cherokee. Here's what happened to me: At every start, the engine would run for ~3 seconds, then die. Here's the solution: Use only a Jeep key made by Jeep. Analysis: I was using spare key (made at local auto parts store). It appears the official jeep key enables the security system when you insert it into the 'key hole'. Notes: If you see an intermittent problem like this, consider getting OEM (original equip. mfg., i.s, jeep) key.

BTW, intermitent problem indicates key is wearing out.
What worked for my 1994 Jeep GC was the key ticket(unlock, lock and unlock) in the rear door (tail gate) and then open the door.

R0620 worked for me. 1994 Jeep GC. Close all doors. Insert FACTORY key in the rear liftgate lock. Turn right (alarm sounds); turn left; turn right. Open driver's door and start engine. Voila!
I have done these things had it at dealer and got new key and it is still shutting off after 3 seconds
can the security system be shut down
The driver's door is the primary lock. For my Jeep the rear tailgate was the primary lock port. The security had been changed. Try each doors(unlock, lock and unlock) after reconnecting the battery. The security may believe it is a break-in.
Thank you guys for this; my primary lock was the passenger door.

Help my 2001 is doing the same thing after my radio was changed
For all that installed a radio with the antitheft system , today i installed a new head unit on my 2002 gc same thing happend to me first the cluster was dead with all the warning lights on then i thought it might have been the pcm so i tried resetting it by unhooking the negative hooked back the negative cable turned the jeep on it started then it shut of 3 seconds later so finally i said screw it and removed the radio turned the jeep back on and magically everthing worked again . Hope this helps folks ---- mike from riverside ca
My wifes 04 cherokee does this. I replaced the radio 2 days after I bought the car. The thing is, if I turn the key to the on position and wait 5 seconds for the lights in the dash to go off the car starts fine. A valet couldnt get the car to go because he was going too fast. I guess my only fix is to put the original radio back in it. Nah, we will take my ram if we go somewhere that we have to use valet. If any of you dont want to put the original radio back in it, just turn the key to the on position and wait for the guages to go up and the dash lights turn off, it will start and run every time.

Mine was staring ok .Then after few seconds it would stop.It then took a long crank to get it running, when it's started it was rough idle.I changed the t piece on filter as I could see air drawn into the low presure pump.Aur was still there so I put clear pipe in supply line no air was being drawn into filter.I bypassed t piece but air was still there. Still had start issue of stopping after few seconds.Bought a genuin filter .problem cured .I was the cheep filter I bought on E bay.Now starts ok and idles smoothly.

To add to my first reply.Start issue was only after jeep had not been running for over 6 hours. I guess fuel was running back down the fuel line as air was very slowly being drawn in through the filter
try everything codes are p1683 what do i do
Similar issue, car shutting off after about 3 seconds and the red dash light flashing, tried disconnecting battery 10 mins, tried again but this time it wouldn't start anymore, just clicks with red theft light in dash flashing. Read a few forums. Determined it was a key not recognized issue. The key fob buttons haven't worked in 3 years even after replacing battery and I didn't have a spare but after reading that some changed the battery and car started. Just to rule that out, i disconnected battery again and then went and replaced battery on key fob. Reconnected battery on car and then tried to start, and I couldn't believe it, the car started and my key fob began working again, all the buttons. So Id say before taking to a dealership, tried disconnecting battery and replacing key fob battery first. Could save you $$$$!

Please help very long experience in my Grand Jeep Cherokee model 2005 Problem, after long or short run i will shut off , then few minutes i will started but after about 5 seconds it shut off and we need to standby almost 8 hours to start again, please help me to solve this problem , Im here now in Saudi Arabia but I m no is the Pilipino. Thanks
My neighbors 1998 Jeep's security systems alarm kept going off and the engine would shut off after a few seconds. I found that taking your factory ignition key and inserting it into the rear hatchback key slot and turning it right and left stopped the constant alarm noise going on and off and it also let the engine run continuously without shutting itself down. Fixed the Issue!
my jeep loredo turns on then right off the gages dont work eather and windows

I changed the coil pack in my gf's 03 GC. Tried to start it and it shuts off about 2 seconds later. Same time every time. I've tried lock tricks, unhooking both battery terminals, pulling fuses and forums. Any suggestions?
I’ve been all over this forum so I’ll tell y’all what worked. 2001 GC Laredo start then stall after 3 seconds. No power windows, no reading on instrument cluster while it was running those 3 secs. Disconnected the battery for a few minutes once ant that worked. It happened again though and this time the battery disconnect did not work. I unplugged my Auto- Shutdown fuse, nothing. After reading everything on this forum I took the plunge and got a new key and fob programmed (when I bought the car there was no fob). Works like a charm! Like someone else said if this is a recurring issue it’s a key problem, if your key looks worn get a new one!
Hi believe it or not my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee had one lil detail that I could never had found if not by a piece of paper I had right by where the VIN number is after it rain it would not start my cluster when crazy and than just went off, at first it wouldn't start, than it did but it would shut off right away, any ways long story short, it was a water leakage from the windshield that some how manage its way all the way behind the cluster, I pull the cluster out unplugged it, than I gave it a go it started once on I plugged the cluster back hoping it wouldn't damage anything within and problem solve.
I’ve had this issue for over 4 years with my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and my dealer / mechanics could never recreate the issue. Basically I’d go out to start up my car most mornings and it would start up and immediately shut down. After a few cycles, it’d start up and would drive fine for the rest of the day. I had the TPMI system replaced and everything inspected with a clean bill of health, but the issue persisted. Last week I brought my car in and had my dealer keep it overnight. I stressed that it was the WIN module even though it “appeared fine.” I asked that when they started it in the morning with the push start and it failed, to insert the key manually to start up the car. This would prove that the WIN module was faulty. My dealer called and was in awe that I finally figured it out LOL Basically, it turned out to be the WIN module losing contact with the key fob during the start / check sequence - would simply shut the system down. Replaced the WIN module, 2 key fobs, steering lock all under warranty and problem never came back!!
