Do I need a catalytic converter

Looking to purchase a 1994 jeep wrangler that does not ave the catalytic converter.. Will
it pass inspection in New York without it?

Not a chance. In New York, the inspectors hook your OBD port to and scan your registration into a computer. The inspectors visually check for a catalytic converter. You would at least have to have a empty can and no check engine light to pass.

Idk about new York but in Illinois after anything before 97 doesn't need to pass emissions anymore and no longer requires it
