I have a new Chevrolet (2015) 2500HD 4X4 Crew Cab with the 6.0 gas engine. The dealer says it has a .410 rear end but I'm not sure. How can I be sure?

Back in the day checking out gear ratios you would lift up the rear end, put a mark on the drive shaft & tire, rotate the tire around 1 revolution & count the number of turns on the drive shaft.4 and some revolutions gets you close to the 4:10 or 4:11. I'm sure Fordnut's web sight may give you more insight.
The window sticker should have that information.
Thanks Mark. Your formula seems to still hold true. I turned the drive shaft four times and the tire made one complete rotation and about 10% more. Just what you would expect for a .410. The sticker did say .410 but it just didn't feel like a .410 back in the day. I guess these fancy new transmissions are to blame, lol.
The newer transmissions with the tall overdrives make the feel of the 4:10 rears go away in the top transmission gears. Good luck with your new truck.
Thinking of buying a 2018 Chevrolet 2500 HD Crew Cab Standard bed with a 6.0 engine a six speed trans with a 4.10 rear end ratios is this a good combo for pulling my 7500 L.B.S. travel trailer I have a e-qualizer hitch. Thanks Ed
Need the rear end alone Factory gave you an option to get cane with either 410 or 373 you're not going to get much difference if better off changing tire height next time you do tires make sure they will you put in there will turn sometimes just one size up and you have a suspension issue rub against a thing but you can get that much George Jesse changing tire height so unless you're ready to make a big change leave it alone if you do put a Detroit Locker in the back
