husband parked outside dealership 5 hours from home, is it safe for him to drive it without power steering on the freeway?

This is the first time this has happened at 4:30 in the morning, dealership opens at 8:30, he has two more hours to wait. Still under the 36,000 mile warranty. Is it safe for him to drive on the freeway for 3 hours to Salem, Oregon. If he needs to leave the car, I could drive over the pass and bring him home
