When checking transmision fluid level, should the fluid be cold or hot ?

At a SPECIFIC TEMPERATURE, as measured with an IR thermometer. You'll have to check a factory or repair manual for what that temperature is. A Kia forum might also know off hand. More and more, factories have been removing transmission dipsticks to prevent owners from damaging their own transmissions by attempting to fill ATF at the wrong temp.
