and then from 2nd to 3rd jerks and hits pretty hard
and then smooth from 3rd to 4th. Does anyone

I also have a 2015 Ford Edge Titanium with the 3.5L motor. I thought I was crazy when I noticed this also. I had the computer reset and was in the learning mode for the next 500 miles. It was fine for a while, I'm not a hard driver, and then it started doing it again. I had the PTU (Power Take-off Unit) replaced since it was leaking and now it's doing it again. I also have a leak in the brand new transmission again (which is the reason for the replacement of the part originally).
Mine is doing the same thing. It’s the same in the downshift between 3rd and 4th. I took it to Ford and they kept it for 4 days and said it was a sensor. And about one week later it’s doing it again

Mine is doing that as well. Has anyone had their transmission fluid changed replaced? Mines at 60,000 and it shifts exactly like yours. I’ve noticed how to drice with a little now. But it’s only when going into third gear.
I have a Ford Edge 2015 AWD 3.5l v6 with only 18k on it. A month an half ago the Transmission was stuck in 2 o 3rd gear come off a freeway off-ramp. I have the premium 5-year warranty on it. It was towed to the dealer and they had it for 5 weeks. They replaced the transmission. they said it was a snap ring and solenoid kit in the transmission. I bought the car new in 12/ 2015. It had a rattle in the front passenger door area, which they could never fix. They had the vehicle for 4 weeks. I complained to the owner of the dealer, wrote a letter and he offered me my money back minus the 4,200 sales tax or the 5-year premium warranty. I took the warranty. Now this transmission problem happens 3 years later. Maybe I should have taken the money instead. Supposedly they got the noise out on this last repair. I only drove it for half an hour and didn't hear any noises yet. A nice new letter is going out this weekend to the dealer say I've lost confidence in this vehicle. I would like the 8 year 150k premium warranty, we shall see.
I have had my 2015 Ford edge AWD in the shop from the dealership I bought it from at least 12 times. My car will shift so hard you feel as if you've been rear ended, and it also sounds as if you've been hit. The shoo has had my car for a couple days and said well they cant make it happen, there for they cant do anything about it. One time at a red light when the light turned green 8 hit the gas, the transmission slipped into neutral, then kicked into gear. The last time the shop had my car. they had it for 2 months, said they fixed it, but it's still doing it. I as also smell what my husband said is transmission fluid after a hard hit. Thos is very frustrating !! I bought the car new, and still owe on it, and don't feel safe driving it. I contacted Ford motors and they told me there's nothing they can do unless the shop can reproduce the problem.
Jsteel837 When my car was new it would lunge into gear something at slow speeds. It never gave an error code. They told me that's the way it was at the time. This recent incidence, the wrench came on twice and there was an error code showing up . I think there was a problem from the get go on these AWD transmission. The new transmission is very smooth , I can hardly feel it shifting. I would write letters to the dealer, the dealer has to talk to Ford for you !
I have decided Not to purchase the 2017 Edge because of reading about these problems.. tks so much
I have had the same problems with the hesitation, then slamming into gear with a band loud enough to think I was rear ended. We bought the car with 38000 miles, certified preowned with factory warranty. The dealer also offers a lifetime drivetrain warranty and we also purchased and extended warranty. I've had it in to the dealer 3 times with no luck. I recently took it in for a fourth time and they wanted to charge me for the diagnostics which I told them was ridiculous since I've brought it in 3 other times with no fix. Then just yesterday the same hesitation and bang happened when I was in reverse. This was the first time that has happened. I am frustrated and don't feel safe driving this vehicle. With so many of the same documented instances, I would think that a company like Ford would stand behind their product with a recall or fix.
I have the same hard shift from 2nd to 3rd. Has anyone found out what the issue is. Ford dealership told me it was a clutch pack. The fix would cost over $4,000 to fix. I asked if it was a worn clutch then why didn't it happen in any other gear. I didn't get an answer for that one. I'm a single mother of 3 and can not afford a $4,000 fix so if anyone has actually fixed this issue please share because I feel like ford is trying to pull one over on me.
I have a 2016 and have the same problem slamming from 2nd to 3rd. The last time I drove it I couldn’t get it past 25mph. I’m a single mother who lost 2 jobs during covid & now have a vehicle I feel unsafe driving. IF YOU ARE SHOPPING FOR A FORD EDGE JUST STOP.
Maybe get second opinion from a few transmission shops. I got a new transmission from Ford because I had extended warranty. I've have put about 8 thousand miles on the new transmission. This 2015 Edge transmission is strange shifting transmission. The other day it felt like transmission was lurching a few times. I may get another extended warranty at the end of the year ,when the Ford warranty expires .I only have 26 k on the car and its garaged. Its keeper for now. Get another transmission shops opinion, stay safe
Took my 2015 Edge to the dealership for the same issue, shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd, both accelerating and decelerating. Furthermore, I had my cruise set at various speeds one day and then my cruise control would automatically shut off and my rear park aid would come on. In that moment, my vehicle had power, but the cluster did not recognize that it was in Drive. Neither issue will happen in Sport Mode, only in Drive Mode. So, I took it to the dealership after doing ample amounts of research. They told me there was a low communication issue which was caused by my battery. Granted, I have never had an issue with my battery however, since I purchased it preowned 2 years ago, I decided to have them go ahead and replace it…better safe than sorry. From there they reset the computer and reset my PCM (per my request). Resetting the PCM will reset your Transmission and allow it to relearn your driving techniques, thus in theory correcting the lurching issue from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 2nd. Per my research, your Transmission will need about 500 miles of smooth/fluid driving for it to relearn, however immediately after 500 miles it started shifting hard again and my cruise shut itself off the same week after receiving it back from the dealership. So, I just paid for a new battery and installation that she might not have even needed? I have an extended warranty on the vehicle, up to 150K miles or 3 years, so I have got 40K miles remaining and/or 1 year. I will be presenting the dealership with an ultimatum since this will be the 3rd time I’m taking it in within 5 months for the lurching issue, which by the way the 1st time I took it in they said they could not get it to replicate the issue I “claimed” to occur. Very frustrating, as I am the one that drives it every damn day of the year, if there is an issue with my vehicle, I will be the one to know!!! Any who, my ultimatum will be: 1, they can attempt to repair it, if not repaired then I will be taking it to a certified transmission shop and sending them the bill. 2, I will take it to a certified transmission shop and send them the bill. If I need a new tranny, just do it already. My uncle is a certified transmission tech. but because it is still under warranty, I do not want anyone besides Ford touching it. If no one can fix this issue, then Ford needs to put out an immediate recall and either refund us our money, pay off the loans (if applicable), or replace the vehicles.
We also have the Ford Edge 2015 and have had similar issues to what Tana reported. 5 times the car has went out of gear with nothing displayed on the shifter area and the "Rear Park Aid" show up on the left screen. We are having the same run around with the dealership where they are driving it and "can't replicate"...we call BULLSH$T since in less than 250 miles it happened 5 times and they have driven over 300+ miles. Is there a way to log the information? I have attached our picture.
How can we get a recall on the 2015 Edge??? I had the new transmission installed by the dealer. The car still shifts strangely and hard sometimes!

My 2015 Edge sometimes will not engage into reverse. So I have to shift into drive, move forward until I can get it to finally go in reverse????
Same issues as listed above. Mine also will try to go into reverse and show the backup camera while driving 75mph on the freeway. You can feel it trying to shift as well. I took it into the dealership left it for a week and they couldn't get it to reproduce the issue. It seems like the transmission issues are a large problem with many people and I don't see how ford hasn't recalled that. In other news, today they recalled 3 million vehicles for a transmission shifter issue. But it says more so people put it in park and it's really not in park. Do we think this is the piece thats causing everyone's issues above; slipping hard going from 2nd to 3rd etc?
This is still occurring, it happens on and off when driving at 25mph or at 75mph. The car goes out of gear. The lit D goes away, the rear park aid comes on and the car is not in any gear. In addition the hard shifting occurs randomly when driving. We love our Edge but Ford is going to get a major lawsuit when this causes a crash and people die. PLEASE FORD recall and fix the transmission issue because it is happening!!!!
