2015 Ford Edge anyone have problems with the vehicle turning off while driving?

Asked by wise93021 Sep 17, 2015 at 05:58 PM about the 2015 Ford Edge Titanium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Ford Edge with 2000 miles on it.  It shut off on me 4 times after making a turn both left and right handed turns.  Took it to the dealer -after 3 days at the dealership - they said they couldn't replicate it - they reset the computer. Worked fine for a couple weeks now it happened again.  Anyone got a solution.  Dealership told me to bring it in - they may need it a few days to see if they can replicate the problem.  It appears to be after reading the other comments I'm not the only one.
Has anyone found or a solution?  Did Ford help anyone out with this problem???

Make sure you document every visit ,what was said, what service was performed. That car is brand new and you shouldn't be having these problems...STAY ON TOP OF IT, IF IT'S NOT FIXED SOON, CONTACT THE FORD FEILD MANAGER AND GET HIM INVOLVED..

i totally agree with Joemom. it should be under warranty and you might need to push a bit to get it fixed.

I had a Ford Edge that did this to me multiple times... It had 30k miles on it at the time and I had to replace the throttle body. After I did that there were no issues! :)

Yes i have 2015 Edge SE with just over 6000 miles on it for my wife..Happen to us 15 times as we tried to get back home..Once getting on the freeway, One of the times in a intersection and the last 20 feet from train tracks when i said this is over and called the dealer to send a tow truck!! 10 mins later a train came by..!! someone is going to get killed !! Read this problem after the fact over 30 plus times..is selling cars really worth risking lives!! Now i'm stuck with this piece of crap and even more i have to worry about my wife every day!! Its at the dealer and most people seem to think its the Throttle assembly box .Dealer hasn't got back to us and its been 2 days..Even if that's it and they fix it ..i will never trust the vehicle..Not the way i want to live!

This just happened to me. I was driving on highway when it shut down. I was able to remain calm and pull over, but it definitely scared me. Could have been a very serious problem. I will be taking it to dealer on Monday.

Truly sorry..We got our vehicle back yesterday..Wife drove it from dealer about 30 miles..Other then that its still under the will see program ..Not very confident in a brand new 2015 Edge SE..Unheard of..think someone will actually have to die before they recall this..I don't get it..

I have a new 2015 ford edge with 8,000 miles in it. It shut down on my 3 days ago, yesterday, and 4 times this morning while trying to get it to the dealership. Luckily I haven't been on the interstate and have been able to pull over because my 6 month old daughter has been in the car with me! It is at the dealership now - I will let ya'll know if they can figure anything out.

My 2015 Ford Edge is a nightmare. After 2 months the keys went dead and both needed new batteries. At 12 months the transmission went and had to be replaced. After three weeks at the dealership I got my car back but they forgot to change the oil. A week later I took it back to get the oil changed and they had to keep it again- all the lug nuts were defective, new ones had to be ordered so they could be replaced. At 16 months i again had to be towed. Apparently a misplaced screw in the manufacturing plant destroyed a wire and interfered with the the fuel injection system. At 17 months the car is again at the dealership to have a purge valve replaced. I hate this car and no longer feel safe!

Our 2015 Edge (with 27,000 on it) just all of a sudden shutdown while driving down the road. It was scary to be sure, but luckily I was able to pull over..... fairly safely. If this would’ve happened on the freeway, I hate to think how catastrophic it could be. We’ve had the vehicle for 3 1/2 years now and this the first time that it’s happened, but I’ll have to make an appointment at the dealer to hopefully resolve this scary issue. I heard that there may have been a recall on this problem, so I guess we’ll see what the dealer has to say about it ! Billy Boy In Burbank

I have a 2012 Ford Edge, and it has been nothing but a money pit. Everything goes on it. I am so deep in, I keep thinking that the last repair is it. Not true. Worst car I have ever owned. Trade it in or sell. RUN!

I have a 2015 Ford Edge. At 84,000 miles I needed a new transmission, $3200, 3 months later at 90.000 check engine light came on. They said it was a coil, $500. Check engine light came on 4 more times, each time taking it in and then not knowing what it was. The last time they said it had a fuel line clog. 3 days later, it dies on the Hwy, has it towed back to the dealer, $125, for them to tell me I need a new engine, $6000+. Took it all the way up the line at Ford and they’ll do nothing for me. I will never buy another Ford, nor will my boys if I have anything to do with it!!

There is another thread about this same issue. I had a 2012 Ford Edge with 70,000 miles that shut down as I was driving 45 mph. The power steering went, the brakes had to be pressed all the way to the floor to slow the car, and I finally got it to the side of the road. Had it towed and after two weeks, there was no diagnosis because there was no "code". Finally, the mechanic said it was an "emissions issue" and after $250, I got the car back only to have this happen three more times. Finally, I had it towed to a Toyota dealership that offered me $8000 for it and I traded it for a RAV4 and I couldn't be happier with that decision. I have several friends with Ford Edges and I have encouraged them to get rid of their cars. One friend's check engine light came on last week. She just called me to tell me that it has been at the dealer since then and they called her this morning to tell her she needs a new engine!! Her car is a 2016 with 54,000 miles. Luckily she bought an extended warranty, but she will never trust this car again! I drove Fords my entire life as did my family and I own Ford stock, but I no longer have any confidence in that company because of the Ford Edge. Sad that they won't step up and help owners with what is obviously a poorly designed and flawed vehicle.

I have a 2015 Ford Edge Titanium AWD and lost power while driving 70 mph on an 85degree day. Drove to the shoulder, put the car in park and hit the start button. It started right up. Called Ford Service and told them what happened. Was transferred to a Service Advisor. He said cars today are all computerized and sometimes they just need to be rebooted. Suggested I call them back if it happens again. Not exactly reassuring. It's only been a week but have not experienced the problem again.

the lemon i have is in the ford dealer for thhe last 3 weeks getting a new computer. i learn my lesson never buy any new car with computer.

Same news from Italy - Ford Edge ST-LIne with a Bi-turbo Diesel Engine 2018 - 2 & 1/2 years old car with 40.000 KM - less than 25.000 Miles - while driving power went off - I was unable to start the engine only waiting for 5/10 min - The local service didn't find any error condition recorded - Same condition to be unable to find any errors was already with adaptive lights blocked to down position - only showing the photo taken with the error displayed the local service take action replacing parts for more than 4000 euro. I have the feeling that this car have a serious problem and no solutions are provided to the owner.
