Door Jammed

Asked by cici0386 May 25, 2019 at 02:49 PM about the 2015 Kia Soul

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am experiencing these types of issues with my
2015 Kia Soul. I was driving on the highway and
notice my door light came on so I pulled over and
figured out which door was open. I closed it, light
went off. About 10 miles later, going around a
curve to merge on a different highway the door
opens! Once I got to a place to safely pull over I
struggled to get the door closed. Eventually I
moved some latch so that it would fit on the bar
and it closed. But since then I have not been able
to open the door from the inside or outside.
Is this something that may be covered under
warranty? Would anyone know what the exact
problem is so I can avoid any testing fees? Please
help!

First I doubt your car is still under warranty just based on it's age. Second, if you have to relocate the latch on the jamb to catch the door lock, then your door hinges are bad. Put the latch back in it's proper place and get some new hinge pins, most auto parts stores carry them or go to the dealer. I'm guessing that as your door is now, sagging hinges and moved latch, if you picked up on the door while opening it you would be able to get in, but that would be tough to do under most circumstances.
