Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 95 Ranger XLT and the heat doesn't work. When I turn it on it just blow cold air and the AC kicks on even when its on heat. I already tried replacing the the heater control in the cab and that was not the problem.

A couple things... you could have a bad thermostat (does your truck overheat at all?) You may also have low coolant level, fill it up if its low, and when you try the heat do you set the control to defrost or floor/face, if you set it to defrost that may be why the A/C compressor kicks on and pumps cold air...
No the truck operates at normal temperature and the coolant level is topped off. I don't set it at defrost. Thanks for your post BL Brown
there is a vacuum controlled valve toward the firewall on the top of the engine.. it is plastic and has 4 rubber hoses connected to it... try changing that.. but make sure you put the hoses on the new one where they were on the old one.. sometimes the seals inside them go bad and they wont work right.
do you have heat now if not you may have a block in the coolant i did then i had it flushed and exchanged and now it works as soon as i turn on my truck
