Popping noise when I first start accelerating

Asked by MastahBruce Aug 15, 2016 at 10:33 PM about the 2001 Kia Rio

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Kia Rio will make a popping noise from the
front driver side wheel area when I first start
accelerating. It runs fine other than that. It doesn't
affect the car at all but I can feel it under my left
foot while driving and like I said it is ONLY when I
first accelerate.

You may have a CV joint going out. Try to visually inspect the boot to see if it's torn, cracked, or loose.

Yup, I agree with KenF, CV joint may be going. The number 1 reason a CV joint goes bad is losing the grease contained inside the rubber boot due to damage to or age and condition of the boot.

I checked them and there was nothing obviously wrong but I'll check closer. Thanks for the feedback
