Why are my brakes squeeking

Asked by Megs Aug 15, 2020 at 09:48 AM about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my brakes and rotors done a few months ago. I am
now getting a squeak from my bake brakes. I took to the
dealership and they soaked my pads. Noise is still present
and I am now being told it was it a normal brake noise. It
didn't even sound like that when I needed new brakes.

They're giving you a B.S. story . No body ' soaks " brake pads , take it somewhere else , you're going to pay there also ,. try stomping on the peddle hard a few times . There are details in a proper brake job that some jerks skip in order to make mo' money faster .

Sounds like poor quality brake pads, glazed brake rotors, or improper break in of the new brake parts. Whenever you have a brake job done you should break in the new parts by avoiding panic stops and hard braking in general for the first 500 miles after the new parts are installed. If you had the work done at the Dealer keep going back and keep complaining until they fix it right. Noisy brakes are another feature of GM ownership that has been going on for about 10 years or so! But if you had the work done elsewhere then let the Dealer do it again and consider it a lesson learned! Cheap brakes are noisy brakes! Hope that helps! Jim

They soaked you, not the pads. Find an honest independent shop.
