how much does it cost to change the harmonic balancer and seal in the timing chain cover.  How many hours and cost per hour. 1994 ford mustang gt

alldatadiy should have the shop times, i'd estimate it around 4 hours @$100 an hour (varies by region.. Ive heard california is up around $130 an hour) Its not too difficult of a task to do on your own, if you have some mechanical skill. Are you talking about the seal behind the harmonic balancer or the gasket around the timing cover? 4 hours would be the timing cover gasket, if its just the seal behind the balancer, maybe 45 minutes to an hour.

Just spent $430 to get mine done...99..3.8 V6 by a mechanic shop..Balancer was almost $200 from Ford place...

Harmonic balancer alone costed me $75 for parts (bought from Amazon) and had it installed for $105. Ford Explorer. Every car will be a different price. Another shop (not dealer) quoted $165 for installation (no parts).
