What engine is in your Mustang? 3.8L, 4.6L, 5.0L? Typically mfg. recommends timing chain replacement at @100k miles. Do you have a manual or automatic transmission? Both transmissions are fairly robust Ford designs and will give you many years of good service. With proper maintenance it's not uncommon to get 200k+ miles. You will want to make sure you do regular (30K interval) transmission fluid and filter changes for an automatic, and service your manual trans as needed (clutch replacements, clutch fluid, etc.)
Do I have to ever change timing chain at my 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis 5.0 ?
4.6 auto trans 2000 gt conv. 118000 miles on it now.
so far, my timing chain got 140,000 miles before it broke 2003 ford GT
my engine is 4.6L at 140,000 miles on a manual transmission.
How much would be the cost to repair a timing chain on my car?
