Date and time not displaying

Asked by Raisin1989 Aug 18, 2019 at 04:54 PM about the 2017 Kia Niro

Question type: General

I was following a thread re the time not
showing up on clock on Kia models.
Followed advice by some on the thread to
use ball point pen and push button to reset
system. Took a minute but worked!

Resetting didn't work...BUT... disconnecting the 12v battery for about 2 minutes DID work (10mm socket, battery in trunk of 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid). This appears to be a Kia-wide problem.

Find the question "date and time" on this forum, over 100 posts in the past 3 days. In a word it seems to be a satellite problem; perhaps related to an update, perhaps something else. Optima, Soul, Sorento and Niro owners have rung in on this. I got my Niro clock back by hitting the reset button (see picture) with a ballpoint pen. Some have reported success by disconnecting the battery for several minutes - this could prove difficult to do with a hybrid. If the reset button doesn't work, consider turning off the main fusebox switch, located in the center of the fuse box, for 10 minutes. Pulling the MultiMedia fuse for 30 seconds did not fix the problem for me.

It worked to use the reset button next to the radio on/off on my Kia Niro Touring. A ball point pen point works perfectly! The date and time are now correct!☺
