2017 Dodge grand Caravan cylinder two and three misfire

My 2014 Grand Caravan did same thing, except it was #2 & #5 misfires. Dealer told me same... needed a new head. Local Mechanic changed spark plugs and the vehicle ran as designed. Try replacing the plugs with the platinum long wear plugs. Cost about $20 a piece but much better than a new head!

Cylinder 2 misfire also and had all plugs and #2 coil replaced but only helped for 50 miles. Just had it inspected and confirmed it was the bad head design and head was pitted. Mechanic said Chrysler/Dodge have extended their warranty to 150,000 miles so you should be able to drop into a dealer and get them dealt with if this is the issue. If so, please pass it on to whoever you can

GuruMF4GJ: We have same problem with 2013. Local dealer where we purchased Caravan says car is no longer under warranty and won't do the repair. Can you recommend who I can contact to have dealer honor that 150K warranty mentioned above? Our caravan has less than 30K miles!

Just had the same thing happen with our 2017 GT head #2, taking it today to dealer to get looked at and it falls under our warrenty plus the extended warrenty we purchase when we bought it

Our 2017 Grand Caravan just diagnosed with same issue Head #2 mis-fire. Dealer said it's not covered under warranty. Have limited lifetime p/t warranty and they are giving the dealer a hassle with regard to cause.

Haven't had any luck going through MOPAR and dealer also told us our 2013 Caravan is not covered under warranty. We first noticed problem about 2 years ago and after 3 trips to repairs problem still occuring. Car has less than 17K mi. Any suggestions?

I have had the same problem - engine light on & code for #2 misfire. I have had the spark plugs replaced as well - engine light came on again reading code for #2 & #5 misfire. Spoke to my mechanic and suggested changing the ignition coils on #2 & #5. Changed the coils, and the next day, on my way home from work (40 min drive) the check engine light came on again. Spoke to a gentleman at the service center at a dodge dealership who mentioned of a known issue with the left cylinder head. Took my vehicle into the dealership, they ran a compression test and found out there was low compression in cylinder #2 (left head). Now, I have a certified pre-owned warranty good through 100K miles (I'm at 90K) so mine is covered under this warranty. My suggestion: 1. doing the chat through Mopar.com and discussing your issue. 2. Contact a dealership and speak with them about it (I used Antwerpan Dodge here in MD and they knew exactly what the issue was when we spoke)You can do #2 first, then do the chat...up to you. But if the dealership knows about the issue, then Dodge/Mopar does too.

We have the same issue with our 2018 Dodge Caravan. The mechanic said it will be >$3000 to fix, and it is recommended that we replace the engine. Is there a class action law suit that we can join? Or, is there a lawyer willing to start a class action suit?

Is your car still under 100,000 mile powertrain warranty? If so, take it to a Dodge dealer and get it taken care of. It should cost you a small deductible about $100 but it was well worth it and that’s how I got mine taken care of.
