Causes of overheating

The list is very long and is dependent on the symptoms experienced. If it overheats only while sitting, probably the radiator fan. If it overheats while driving, the list includes: 1. Coolant low 2. Thermostat closed (stuck) 3. Bad radiator hose (evidenced by low coolant) 4. Blocked coolant jackets 5. Bad water pump 6. Radiator cap not holding pressure (believe it or not) The list can go on but I can't think of anything else off the cuff. Those I'm fairly sure are most common. If I missed something, we'll probably see it posted by someone else.
