What is a good replacement rear end higher geared for this truck

Sorry it's a 1960 c10 half ton.had a 6 cyl 3 speed.
A couple of sites to look at: Spohn. Costs from $900 to $3500. Powertrain products: 10 bolt differential, is $1100. I suggest you go on line, find the phone number and call. Start with Powertrain Products first. For a 1960, you will need the part number you have and the one your looking for. Have you tried junk yards? Most rear ends are indestructible and a rebuild kit will get them as good as new.
Would you know what other rear end would fit that's 6 lug drum brakes.I would then know what to look for in a junk yard. Tks Mike
Here's the bottom line. If you want to get better mileage, weigh the cost of changing out rear ends with what you'd save in gas. $1,000 will take a long time, and you will be gutless going up long hills, so you down shift and the gas savings goes out the door. If you have a noise in the rear end, a rebuild will be very inexpensive compared to changing out rear ends. What are you really looking for? In the junk yards, you get what you pick out sight unseen, and it may be worse than what you have. Go to a repair garage and talk to them on rebuild vs. a step up in gearing. Talk is cheap, and it will give you ideas on the money you may have to put out. Nothing is cheap anymore. Old vehicle parts are not made, only rebuilt, or if they are made, it is very costly. If you have a junk yard with a 59 to 61 Chevy P/U and they are willing to talk to you, go that way. The sights I gave you above will help. Do you research work and know what your looking for or you will be taken.
I'm looking for a higher geared rear end,I'm running 350 bored 40 over with big cam,too low geared I'm running over 300 hp.but thanks for the input. Mike
I have the nearly same engine build you have in my old 69 Corvette. My problem was the gearing was too high. I got a 5 speed transmission with the first two loser gears lower than my old first gear, and the overdrive higher than my old fourth gear. Now I have the best of both worlds. Consider a transmission change with the gearing you want.

It will be easier. If money is an issue, look for a good rebuild. They may be half the price of a new one. Switching from my factory 4 speed to the Tremac 5 speed, They had to include a new bell housing, clutch and shorter drive shaft. This was included in the price of the new tranny. BTY, the new C-7 Corvettes and I believe Cameros now use the Tremac transmissions.
