Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 Mazda tribute starts great and as soon as I put it in gear to go, it stalls. My father-in-law checked all the lines to see if there was a block, and he did not find anything. What could the problem be, and what would a cost be to fix?

Their could be a few things can could cause your problem. Vacuum leak, IAC valve, and as a long shot the transmission. Just to name a few. Can you keep the motor running if you give it a little gas with the gas pedal to keep it from dying ?

yes, if you give it gas right away, the car stays running. My father-in-law drove to my house from the highway where I stalled. It just stalls once you stop for a second.

Trottle body needs replacement ....it is a known problem....it senses the incorrect trottle position..
