Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a veh at our shop, came in with top end rebuild after overheating.  Left prev. repair
shop not running correctly.  After diag and tearing down and checking cams and procedure from prev. shop.  rerouting vacuum lines properly, veh runs great cold for about
a mile or however long you drive til coming to an idle.  Once running temp is achieved
veh starts hard idles rough and has no power.  No engine codes present

that could be egr. when the car is warm and not idling, pull the vacuum line off the egr valve. if you can feel vacuum, then the valve has not released. when you pull the vacuum line off, the valve will close, and idle should smooth out. there are 2 solenoids that control the valve, they live on a bracket below the row of 4 solenoids that control abv. mazda only sells the solenoids as a set, and they come on the bracket, with one vacuum hose connecting them. however, if egr is not working, you should be getting a couple codes. since you checked timing, i am ruling that out, but the timing marks for the 2.3 are really hard to see, and a lot of places get it a tooth off.

transmission needs a service, it is not obvious to you ??? transmission fluid heats up it expands and will cause rough poor idle, that is why you are not getting a poor idle when cold, call yourself a workshop what a disgrace
