so why does my car shut off when i stop at a redlight? The battery light comes on right before it dies But It starts right back up

Sounds like your alternator is failing. Bring to Autozone and have them test the output side of the alternator. If it's putting out low volts, replace. Pop the caps on your battery also and check to see if you have a dry cell. You may need a new battery. If it's a maintenance free battery and over 5 years old, you should replace it as well.
