Crank shaft sensors are typically located in one of two positions -- in the front of the engine near the crankshaft pulley, usually behind it; or they may be located in the rear of the engine block visible from underneath the vehicle, usually secured with one bolt and a wiring harness going to the sensor.

I have a 1995mazda XL with a 2.0 cylinder engine were I the crankshaft sensor at.
