I don't know of any specific mechanical improvements made to the transmission between 1995 and 1997, so I would say that either one should suit your needs. Make sure you get one from a car that has been taken care of -- or have a rebuilt Jasper unit put in with a 3/36,000 mile warranty.

Regarding the question above...Will a 97 Mazda 626 2.0 Automatic rebuilt transmission fit a 95 Mazda 626 2.0 Automatic????????

MAZDA is the third best transmission companey in the world, number one is Allision (that is extream heavey duity) you can take a .50 cal bullet and shoot a hole through an allision and it will still work, number two is AZW. if your MAZDA trans failed, then it was from your not taking care of your car (from day one, our transes are f*cking amazing)
