2018 Jetta- Plastic/Crayon Smell

Have had our Jetta SE for about 2 weeks and every
time we run our heat or air conditioning we get a
crayon/plastic smell. We took it in and they said
nothing is wrong and wait until we get to 1000 miles
because at that point it should go away. I know this
was an issue in the older models but does anyone
have any idea about newer ones?

Had the same issue with my honda civic. its perfectly normal for new cars to have a bad plastic smell from the air ways for the first 1000-2000 km's the more you use the system the quicker it goes away. Its cause fresh plastic has not had a chance to properly breath after its first made and these cars often never have the system even fliped to the on position till the new owner turns it on. so that plastic smell jsut hangs in there till then. just use the system as much as possible and open the windows on nice days and it should disapate :)
