brake maintenance on a Nissan
Recently I took my 2018 Nissan Murano in for scheduled maintenance. The
vehicle only travelled has 20,000Km. The Service Tech said he advised that
they should strip and clean the brake calipers and replace the brake fluid.
Cost close to $400.
I asked why was such work necessary on an almost new vehicle. He said
Nissan calipers are made to much tighter tolerances than older vehicles and
therefore more susceptible to seizing because of dust and grit build up
Likewise the anti lock brake system pumps approx 1000/minute vs
400/minute as on older cars and therefore can wear quicker than in the past
if dust or dirt gets into the fluid.
Although the explanations sound plausible, I am still unconvinced and would
like another opinion
