92 explorer when the engine is cold it goes into drive no problems but when its warmed up it takes a long time to finally jerk into drive reverse always works. just bought so don't know anything about

Check the tranny fluid level when hot. Tranny fluid should be changed and filter replaced about every 40 K miles for best performance. Has yours been changed in 23 years.
